Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 Rice Cooker

The Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 rice cooker is a very popular model in North America. When you look at the Amazon site there are plenty of positive customer reviews. It is a great device for family use because it is a mid-sized rice cooker. Its capacity is 5 1/2 cups. This means that if you fill it with this amount of un-cooked rice it actually makes ten servings. Of course if you have a very large family then perhaps the NS-ZCC18 would be a better option. Realistically though, the NS-ZCC10 is a good choice if you want to prepare rice for at least three people. If you live on your own or just one other other person then you would be better off with a 3 cup rice cooker. The reason for this is that cooking small amounts of rice in larger machines does not produce as perfect rice as if you do it in a smaller model.

In actual fact, the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 rice cooker has some amazing features for the price. To be honest, it does not come cheap. Even at the cheapest places, such as Amazon, it still costs over $150. But you should definitely be able to find it for well under $200. But this still represents great value for money. What you get for this price is an advanced Micom rice cooker. Basically, all the best machines have Micom functionality so this really is necessary. The advanced part is the Fuzzy Logic component that Zojirushi call Neuro Fuzzy. This is supposed to randomize the rice cooking process so that every grain of rice gets cooked perfectly.

This machine has the most rice cooking options of any Zojirushi rice cooker. It also comes with not just a keep warm feature but also a re-heat cycle. It can cook practically any kind of rice except for GABA brown. To prepare brown rice in this special way, you have to get an Induction Heating rice cooker like the Zojirushi NP-HBC10. However this about $100 more than the NS-ZCC10. It is not the top of the range Zojirushi rice cooker but it is definitely one of the best value machines. Of course, if you can afford it, then an Induction Heating machine is better. But for the price, the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 is hard to beat. One of the physical features of this model that help it to cook great tasting rice include the inner cooking pot with a spherical bottom. It is easy to keep the appliance clean because the inner lid is removable. One further feature is that it is the only machine in the whole Zojirushi range that has stay cool handles.
