oil filled radiator winter heating
68Oil filled radiators are one heating option to use in the cold winter months. For people with central heating already installed in their homes there may not be much need for any extra heating appliances. However for those of us without this option, portable oil filled heaters can be used successfully to heat different rooms in a house or apartment. These kinds of heaters are useful because as with the model pictured below, many of them come with wheels that are attached to the bottom of the unit which makes it easy to move around to different rooms. There are many good points about using an oil filled radiator versus some of the other mobile heating solutions available today. However there are also some negative aspects too. Read on for further information about these modern electrical radiators.
advantages and disadvantages of oil filled radiator heaters
They are relatively safe. They do not give off any dangerous fumes nor do they reach extreme temperatures. There is also a feature where by if they are knocked over, the power to the unit will automatically cut out. These are all positive aspects. However a friend told me he was not too impressed with the electric oil heater he purchased. He felt that the heat that the portable room radiator gave off didn't actually warm the room very well. But when compared against other types of electrical heaters that have exposed heating rods they are certainly less of a fire risk. On the other hand it is true the heat they give off is not as intense. I am quite happy with the Delonghi radiator I have. It gives off less heat than a gas powered heater I used last year however I did not like that one too much because of the smell of the fuel it used. I also had to take care to allow some fresh air into the room to ensure a reasonable amount of oxygen and to let the fumes out. Portable electric oil filled radiator heaters are not the cheapest heating option. They do cost a bit to run. However they are cheaper than many other electricity powered heaters. That said compared to gas fueled appliances they work out as a bit more expensive. There is a trade off between price and heat given off and safety. Not everyone has exactly the same requirements. Another thing I like about oil filled radiators is that they are relatively cheap to purchase.
